Medical support during alcohol withdrawal at Vida Libre

Medical support during alcohol withdrawal at Vida Libre

Vida Libre is not a conventional alcohol detox clinic. Ideally, any medically necessary detoxification should be completed before your stay with us. We strongly advise against attempting an abrupt or unsupervised withdrawal from alcohol, as this can involve serious health risks.

Our main focus is the period after physical detoxification. At Vida Libre, we help you understand your personal drinking patterns, recognise individual relapse risks and develop strategies for situations in which alcohol previously played a role. Psychological support, personal stability and the development of greater self-confidence are therefore at the heart of our programme.

Why medical support remains important after detoxification

Completing alcohol detoxification does not necessarily mean that the body has fully recovered. Physical symptoms and health problems may continue for some time, and your body may still react to the changes associated with stopping alcohol.

For this reason, medical support remains an important part of your stay at Vida Libre even if detoxification has already been completed. Our doctor is available throughout your stay to monitor your general health, assess any symptoms that may occur and provide conventional medical treatment where necessary. Nursing support is also available.

This medical support provides an additional level of safety while you concentrate on the psychological and personal work that forms the main focus of your stay.

When alcohol withdrawal may be possible at Vida Libre

In suitable cases, medically supervised alcohol withdrawal may also be possible at Vida Libre. Whether this is appropriate depends on the severity of the alcohol dependence, your general health and your individual medical situation.

This must always be assessed carefully in advance. Where appropriate, we also recommend discussing your situation with your doctor before travelling to Mallorca.

If withdrawal at Vida Libre is considered medically appropriate, our doctor and nurse will provide the necessary professional support during this phase.

Medical safety always comes first

Vida Libre is not a hospital and does not provide intensive-care treatment. If your condition or the course of withdrawal requires hospital-based care, we will recommend this rather than taking unnecessary medical risks.

If necessary, we can arrange a temporary stay at a suitable local private clinic. We will remain in close contact with you during this time and continue your treatment at Vida Libre as soon as this is medically appropriate.

In our experience, hospital treatment during a stay has only rarely been necessary. Nevertheless, your safety always takes priority.

Detoxification is only the beginning

Physical withdrawal is only one part of overcoming alcohol dependence. The more important question for long-term change is often what happens afterwards.

At Vida Libre, we therefore focus on helping you understand why alcohol became important in your life, recognise the situations that may increase your risk of relapse and develop new ways of dealing with them. The aim is not simply to stop drinking for a short period of time, but to create the basis for a more stable life without alcohol.
